Testimonials
"Cathy has been such a wonderful support in my journey to breastfeed and improve my experience and production with pumping. She listened to my concerns, made prompt and effective suggestions to my plan in order to maximize my output and improve my experience and was a wealth of information on breast care, supplements and additional resources. Cathy tailored a plan to my goals and individual situation and provided me with countless resources to reference for my needs. I would highly recommend Cathy to anybody looking to improve their breastfeeding or pumping journey with their baby."~Christina
"Cathy was very sweet, patient and knowledgeable! She gave me Great recommendations and information that have helped me a lot so far! She also answered all of my questions and gave me extra resources. I'm very appreciative and would definitely recommend her. It was very helpful to have a lactation consultant come to my house because after labor I was sore so it was great having someone come to me and also helping me in my house was great because she set me up in my own surroundings with which I'm most familiar." ~ Jessica
"Cathy was a huge help. She was knowledgeable, professional, patient and supportive. She provided a lot of extra informational material as well as follow up to each appointment. She was available for follow up calls and responded to emails/questions promptly, always providing options and being encouraging. With her help I felt a lot more reassured and confident in breastfeeding." ~ Nadya
"Cathy provided a comprehensive breastfeeding plan after my baby and I came back from the hospital and she was losing weight. She identified that she was not actively eating as she was very sleepy and needed to be stimulated to stay awake throughout the breastfeeding session. She provided compassionate feedback and was a very great listener. I felt so much more at ease after her visit to our home and am so glad my baby is doing great with breastfeeding and her weight after Cathy’s input." ~Megan
"Cathy was friendly, professional, and incredibly helpful. I found the process of making an appointment easy. She is highly responsive via email, text, and through her secure messaging portal. I scheduled a home visit and she gave me great instructions to prepare for the appointment. She brought her own scale so we were able to do an accurate before/after weight so we could accurately measure how much my baby ate. She also accepts my insurance, Aetna, so she billed them directly and it cost me nothing out of pocket. Cathy is also an inclusive practitioner, which I appreciate." ~ Elissa
"Cathy was so great. During the pandemic, we used TeleDoc and over a computer screen, she was able to assist me with my breastfeeding. She was open, understanding, and listened to my concerns. She knows what she is doing and my breastfeeding improved right after our appointment." ~Rachel
"I can't possibly put into words how grateful I am for Cathleen Walker, MA, RNC, IBCLC, but I will try... I initially reached out to my doctor as my 3-month-old was spitting up after feeds, extremely colicky, and having trouble sleeping. This had been going on since he was born at different intensities. My doctor and I discussed putting him on a reflux medication, but he hesitated, stating he had been gaining weight and seemed to be doing well. So, we thought about the "root cause" for the reflux. I then wondered if something was wrong with me. He recommended connecting with a lactation consultant to see if the issue might be with breastfeeding. That's when Cathleen came in. After an initial consult, we came to the conclusion that I had an oversupply issue. And here I was thinking I didn't have enough milk! My son was getting WAY too much "foremilk" (skim milk like milk) and not enough "hindmilk" (cream like milk that keeps them fuller for longer). This led to him spitting up, eating more frequently, and having too much gas. The eating frequently led to my oversupply. Cathleen gave me multiple tools to fix this issue and within a couple days, my son is no longer spitting up, super happy, and sleeping a tremendous amount. I can't even believe it! He was about to be on medications for reflux and now no longer needs to. We even thought it was due to a lip or tongue tie because he had a poor latch, but that poor latch was due to my oversupply. All this to say, WORK WITH CATHLEEN! You will not regret it- she is a miracle worker!!! PS- She accepts insurance and offers virtual sessions!" ~Leticia
"Cathy has been a great help for us during the journey into parenthood. We met with her before our baby was born and felt so informed at the hospital about hand expressing, the nurses were all so impressed. Since coming home with our new born Cathy has been a supportive resource helping us set plans, give tips and guidance to help with latching issues, and any other questions we have she is available. Because we can't meet face to face we have had all virtual consultations which has been great to get help when our family can't be here." ~ Jordan
"Good morning all- I’m up early feeding my daughter Penny, and reflecting on how fortunate I was to find Cathleen Walker when she was born. In the hospital, I found trying to breastfeed agonizingly painful, and by the time I came home with my 3 day old baby, I was ready to stock up on formula and give up. Nursing was painful, pumping was painful, I was sleep deprived, and my baby wasn’t gaining. I decided to give it one last try working with an LC at home and I’m truly so thankful the nurses at Greenwich Hospital led me to Cathy. She was so patient in every aspect- navigating insurance, setting up a time convenient for me, driving to me in the snow. She was kind and reassuring when we worked together two times, providing so much practical guidance and support and answering my many many nervous questions, then following up with virtual resources. Because of her, I went from basically giving up to now breastfeeding my almost 6 month old with true ease. I owe you a debt of gratitude, Cathy. I’m so proud of myself and Penny, and I really believe we owe it to you. Thank you!" ~Serena
"Cathy was not only willing to travel and do a home visit during the pandemic, but she did so in a way that made me feel like my family was safe and comfortable. She spent a full 2 hours with me, assessing my baby - who had just had a procedure for a lip and tongue tie release - and explaining the affects of ties on the body, latch, milk supply, and even tummy time and sleep. She encouraged me to reach out to body workers for follow up care, stressing the impact it would have on his recovery and rehabilitation, and even supplied me the names of many practitioners in my area, even though she doesn't usually work in my town; she took the time to reach out to colleagues and ask recommendations, as well as research herself, on our behalf. She went over stretches and exercises, examined and adjusted baby's positioning for breastfeeding, made gentle suggestions, and answered any and all of my crazy questions without batting an eye - no judgments, no need to look anything up. She is kind, professional, and highly skilled and knowledgeable. I've already recommended her as a resource for the pediatric dentist's office as a post-treatment IBCLC, as he was so impressed and pleased that I was able to find anyone doing home visits, and also thrilled with the result I got. I will continue to recommend her any time my path crosses with someone who has an infant!" ~Kimberly
"Cathy helped me IMMEDIATELY. I was shocked at how my problem was resolved so quickly. I will use her over and over and recommend her to all of my friends."~ Mariangel
"Cathy was absolutely wonderful and extremely helpful. Very easy to book online and on short notice (she came the next day). I learned so many pointers and adjustments to use with my newborn to make feedings easier for us both. Also, the customized Care Plan that I received after the consultation is full of great resources for us to continue to consult before our next visit. Highly recommend!"~Laura
